26 July 2007

I took a wrong turn coming out of the motel, and missed the "recalculating," so ended up going north instead of south (on 666) to start the day. I was wondering why the "Distance to Destination" was more than I remembered...

I was (once again) expecting rain, but most of the day was actually quite pleasant. Toward the end, though, it finally materialized. I went through a couple of patches of pretty heavy rain, the final one about 30 miles out of Bowling Green. But I was pretty dry by the time I got to Nick's, and it didn't rain there the rest of the day.

I was hoping to get a tire changed while I was there, but there were none to be found in the greater Toledo area. I looked closer at the tire, and it'll probably go another thousand miles with no problem. But that'd put me on Sunday, with no dealers open until Tuesday. So I'll try for Ft. Wayne tomorrow; there's actually a dealer there.

Jane & Jim Grilliot came over, and we had a wonderful dinner, with barbeque ribs & chicken, breaded fish, zucchini, corn on the cob and Texas garlic toast. After dinner, Mike & Kathy Cousins stopped by, and we had blueberry pie a la mode, and chocolate covered blueberries for desert, while we sat around chewing the fat.
