It appeared that the weather would be OK, at least for the start of the day, and it was, mostly, although it sure looked like it wanted to rain. For all that, it was pleasant riding, at least in the morning. Going through Eureka, IL I saw an interesting courthouse (?), and decided it was about time I took some pictures, so I circled the block and took a shot of it, but it wasn't as good an angle as when I first saw it.

Oh, well. Stopped a bit later for a little rest, and at the rest stop there was a bridge to nowhere. Took a couple of pictures of that, too.
Bridge to nowhere......nowhere...
Then in Pittsfield there was another nice courthouse.

For some reason, both MapSource and the GPS wanted me to take US 24 through Washington, rather than the bypass around it. I didn't. Then, later in the day, the GPS tried to get me to go back up to I-70, after going down to a trackpoint I'd set on US 50. When I ignored it, it tried a few more times, before giving up and routing me straight down 50, thus saving half an hour, and around 30 miles. (I didn't think my planned day's riding was over 500 miles; after giving up on I-70 it went back to about what I'd remembered.)

I considered going all the way to my programmed destination, but it was getting pretty miserable, and there's no need to beat myself up. I almost stopped in Sedalia, then Knob Noster (mostly because of the name) but Warresnburg looked like it might have the best combination of what I wanted. Turns out it did, but I drove around for 15 minutes before finding it, right at the exit where I first got off. Days Inn, ($45); the Wi-Fi signal's a little weak, but groceries were a half-mile walk away ($12).
