It was somewhat strange to leave Mike's, that's the longest I've ever visited there, but they needed to get back to normal, and I had places to go.
It was cooler, and felt like it might rain (although there was none forecast) as I headed east a bit, then south. That didn't last, although the humidity did. The temperature climbed as I headed down US 69, through a bunch of lakes, the largest of which was called Eufaula. There was some construction, but always one lane open, and the speed limit didn't even drop much.
I got my last Oklahoma fuel just south of all those lakes and headed for Texas. The speed limit didn't go up when I crossed, but I had plenty of time—I'd projected my arrival at Edward's place around 1500, and I'd be close, after skirting around the east side of Dallas.
MapSource and Google Maps disagreed on the address location, but I'd identified what I though was the correct place in Google Earth, using Edward's description, and set that as a waypoint. In the event, the GPS routed me differently than the computer had, but I ended up in the right spot, perhaps taking fewer gravel roads.
And there was Edward, and there was a most welcome pool (concrete pond), where we cooled off and chatted before heading off to a local BBQ spot for fall-off-the-bone ribs and live country music.
