Marathon County Maple, Day 5
Sap's not running, it's too cold, so we took the opportunity to re-level and
sort of insulate the cook box.
I didn't have my camera with me when we were doing the leveling, so this
is mostly the finished result.
We dug some field stones out from a pile removed from, well, a field,
and dumped/shoveled them along the sides
There is some dirt mixed in with the stones
The business end of the firebox. We tried to straighten the sides with a
portable hydraulic press, with limited success—3/16" plate steel doesn't bend
well when it's cold, but it sure warps when it's hot.
All set for the next batch of sap.
