Summer Sojourn, Day 03
Xavier put in (out?) this outdoor (remote) furnace about ten years
ago—it heats water that's pumped through insulated pipes to radiators
in the house. (It's not that simple, actually—there are heat exchangers
and controllers and what-not, but we're not going to go into that.)
He built a shed around it last fall, and insulated that with free 2"
foam boards.
But the dirt floor is problematic, so we're going to pour some concrete.
There's a bit of slope to the south; we thought two levels would save
some work, but by the time we dug out around the current slab it was
close enough to level to not bother.
Unfortunately, the bucket on the tractor was about an inch too wide to fit
through the door, so shovels had to do to spread a layer of sand.
The last picture shows 'form' boards going up (the 4" on the ground in
front of X).
We're still debating how to handle the door jamb, but will likely use
wood to make the transition from the outdoors to the slab.
Stay tuned.
