Mid-Wis Maple, Day 11

We got some sap from those box elders we tapped down around the old barn, pulled the dry taps and moved them to some other trees we hope will produce.
X built this miniature version of the sugar bush cooker to boil the box elder sap, here with some coals from his furnace to start the fire—smokey to start—we even re-created the cover to control the boil. After the fire got going, there was no smoke.

Starlink is an Elon Musk service to bring internet into the boonies around the world, including rural Wisconsin. So we filled the top two feet with concrete, mixed on the ground and hauled up with a bucket.
