Mid-Wis Maple, Day 22



Several folks wondered about turning yesterday's trees into lumber. If you don't have your own sawmill (there are semi-portable ones) a single log isn't worth the trouble or expense, especially if you already have a plethora of rough cut lumber you hardly ever have a need / use for.

We gathered yesterday, although what we gathered was mostly ice; once it melts, it'll cook into syrup, just the same.

Freezing rain is predicted for today; to keep that from running down the bark and along the plastic taps / tubes and spoiling the sap, we're trying tying cable ties around the shank and hoping it'll take the easier path.
