Then we went to the fair! It's smaller than I remember from my youth, and unlike the (for instance) San Diego Fair, it's quite casual—no massive TSA-like entrance queue, no security guards...
We happened across this photo-op, and asked a passer-by to take our picture.

After he obliged, he confessed to being the Philip Walters who'd supplied the sign, and whose cow was being groomed in the background.
We (well, he) talked for a bit, about showing,
et al. He noted that the cows being shown hadn't been milked on their normal schedule, making their udders super-defined, more obvious with this one:
We spent some hours in the exhibit buildings: cows, pigs, goats, chickens, rabbits,
et al, and old farm machinery, much of which we recognized as being phased out in our youth. And it wouldn't be a Wisconsin fair without cheese carving.
Ate some junk food (deep fried cheese curds, yum!) and stopped by Menard's...
...on our way home for some stuff you'll likely see later.
