If I'd only known ... within ten miles on my way out of town I found a
nice regular motel, probably would have been half the price, and might
even have had Wi-Fi...
A 10 minute wait for road construction to start
the day, and set the tone. I had three detours today, among a bunch of
construction. I didn't have to wait for any but that first one, however.
According to what I could make out (without sound) on the weather
channel, it'd be raining in Pennsylvania later in the day, so I
prepared for it, and once again, it didn't happen.
I've gotten used to
going slow. It seems strange to do more than +5, and it's probably
served me well. I've been meeting a lot of cops, and they don't turn
around and chase me.
I tested my brakes at one point today; I was coming
to an intersection (doing the speed limit) and a car pulled across the
road, right in front of me. Talk about an adrenaline rush! Of course,
he panicked, and tried to back up--one of those classic situations. If
I'd dove behind him, I would have hit him backing up. But I managed to
stop without really coming close. Glad I cover that front brake,
though!
I wasn't sure about motels later in the day; I hadn't found
much using MapSource, so I decided I'd stop as soon after 1500 as I
found one. Happened to be in Kane ($44); groceries a mile walk away
($14). And Wi-Fi, once I'd dragged the desk to the other side of the
room.
