Breakfast at the motel in Gila Bend is at the attached restaurant; any entree and a drink. As soon as we walked out the door, the heat hit us--and it was only 7 AM! And it didn't cool down by the time we were packed and ready for the road.

We'd pushed gas yesterday, 200+ miles on that last tank, but neither of us was on reserve--combination of slow speeds and a tail wind? Anyway, we filled up just before we hit I-8, heading for Yuma and the last park stamp of the trip. Just before Yuma, however, all the eastbound traffic was routed over into one of the westbound lanes, and the speed limit dropped to 45--for 10 miles! At least it was still hot.

The 'Yuma Crossing' stamp is available at two places; I arbitrarily picked the old court house, so of course we had to ask around, until we found the lady that had it in the back of her desk drawer. Last stamp of the trip, for a total of 54. (Well, 53--we both got the Cabrillo Monument one before we left.)

Nothing left to do but cross the desert; for some reason it didn't seem so bad, maybe because we knew home was at the end.

One more stop in El Centro for gas; after we filled up we shook hands and headed for the barn. Boyd peeled off in El Cajon...

Boyd, home and road-weary

and I ended up with some of my hair and beard back.
