Marathon County Maple, Day 7
Back in the sugarbush...
Leveling the pan raised it high enough so the bulk tank doesn't drain
into it anymore. So...
Pass a chain around one end, hook it to a chain on the loader.
...raise up that end...
...screw some 2x6(8)s above the old ones
...and restore the drain angle.
Renewing the mud between the pan and the firebox helps hold in the heat.
We cut some new lumber for the pan cover; it's edged and angled so
any rain will be channeled off the sides and the back.
The rough lumber didn't look this pretty; once we ran it through
the planer and saw the grain...it seems a shame to use it this
pedestrianly, but... (Xavier thinks it's Black Ash.)
