Marathon County Maple, Day 7

Back in the sugarbush...

Leveling the pan raised it high enough so the bulk tank doesn't drain into it anymore. So...

Tank maintenance
Pass a chain around one end, hook it to a chain on the loader.

Tank maintenance
...raise up that end...

Tank maintenance
...screw some 2x6(8)s above the old ones

Tank maintenance
...and restore the drain angle.

Sugarbush maintenance
Renewing the mud between the pan and the firebox helps hold in the heat.

Sugarbush maintenance
We cut some new lumber for the pan cover; it's edged and angled so any rain will be channeled off the sides and the back.

Wood
The rough lumber didn't look this pretty; once we ran it through the planer and saw the grain...it seems a shame to use it this pedestrianly, but... (Xavier thinks it's Black Ash.)
