Summer Sojourn, Day 02
Wasted no time getting to work...
The lawnmower (used at least once a week) needed new blades.
No pictures of this, but the motor from a salvaged cement mixer came
apart easier than it looked like it should. Examining the internal
wiring made me wonder how it could have ever worked (although X was
pretty sure it hummed when plugged in, and may have turned)—two
adjacent brushes were connected together, I could feel stubs of wiring
on the other two, unconnected to anything; four wires from the stator
ended up as two to the plug (through a tape-wrapped glob that I didn't
bother to peel apart), and their internal insulation was cracked, dry,
and missing in many places. It went onto the scrap pile.
Then we found some time to play with a crossbow I drop-shipped from
Amazon.
At ten yards X managed to "Robin Hood" an arrow...
...once that happened we'd aim at different points on the target.
