Woke up to a foggy morning, which coats the trees with hoarfrost when it's cold enough.
It's been warm-ish for the last couple of days, but when we checked yesterday, very little sap was in any pails, none in some. So we did some prep work for the cooking: pulled the cook pan out of the bus, set it on the 'stove' and covered it with the boards that adjust the 'boil' activity. Stuck in the chimney, and that's set.
Then we went down to the old homestead, where we'd tapped some box elders and checked on them; what was in those pails was mostly water from the previous day's snowfall. Dumped them out, and put covers on to keep out further contamination.
