Summer Soiree, Day 17
The remains of the milkhouse down at the old homestead.
We'd gone down in the early(ish) morning to do some tree trimming / removal to open up the path to the back of the barn.
Xavier's gearing up...
and at it...
resulting ultimately in a clear path and a couple of wood piles, sized for a fire box, once dried enough.
Picked beans again:
...and got enough to can almost 11 quarts. Rather than dump more heat into the kitchen,
we set up the camp burner in the basement and broke in the new pressure canner...
...retrofitted with the handle from the old one,
...since the new one came with a caveat to lift
only the cover using its handle, and this handle has many years of successfully lifting the whole canner under its belt.
The day ended with some interesting cloud formations.
